Authorship: Few Myths and Misconceptions.Dalal M. Al Tamimi, Savita Lasrado, Vijaya Marakala, Mohammed Madadin, Magdy A. Kharoshah & Ritesh G. Menezes - 2016 - Science and Engineering Ethics 22 (6):1843-1847.
This article seeks to address and dispel some of the popular myths and misconceptions surrounding authorship of a scientific publication as this is often misconstrued by beginners in academia especially those in the developing world. While ethical issues in publishing related to authorship have been increasingly discussed, not much has been written about the myths and misconceptions of who might be an author. Dispelling these myths and misconceptions would go a long way in shaping the thoughts and plans of students, (...)

Native Language Influence on Brass Instrument Performance: An Application of Generalized Additive Mixed Models (GAMMs) to Midsagittal Ultrasound Images of the Tongue.Matthias Heyne, Donald Derrick & Jalal Al-Tamimi - 2019 - Frontiers in Psychology 10.
This paper presents the findings of an ultrasound study of ten New Zealand English and ten Tongan -speaking trombone players, to determine whether there is an influence of native language speech production on trombone performance. Trombone players’ midsagittal tongue positions were recorded while reading wordlists and during sustained note productions. After normalizing to account for differences in vocal tract shape and ultrasound transducer orientation, we used generalized additive mixed models (GAMMs) to estimate average tongue shapes used by the players from (...)

Can the word superiority effect be modulated by serial position and prosodic structure?Yousri Marzouki, Sara Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi, Muneera Tariq Al-Tamimi & Ali Idrissi - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
In this study, we examined the word superiority effect in Arabic and English, two languages with significantly different morphological and writing systems. Thirty-two Arabic–English bilingual speakers performed a post-cued letter-in-string identification task in words, pseudo-words, and non-words. The results established the presence of the word superiority effect in Arabic and a robust effect of context in both languages. However, they revealed that, compared to the non-word context, word and pseudo-word contexts facilitated letter identification more in Arabic than in English. In (...)

The education of children in an Islamic family based on the Holy Qur’an.Sulieman Ibraheem Shelash Al-Hawary, Tribhuwan Kumar, Harikumar Pallathadka, Shadia Hamoud Alshahrani, Hadi Abdul Nabi Muhammad Al-Tamimi, Iskandar Muda & Nermeen Singer - 2023 - HTS Theological Studies 79 (3):6.
Education has been acknowledged as the key factor contributing to personality development and identity formation. To ensure appropriate education, it is thus of utmost importance to reflect on the power of the educational content. As a result, respecting Islamic values from a major authentic source, like the Holy Qur’an, paves the ground to fulfil this goal. On the contrary, the first and foremost educators to convey these values are the family, because each person mainly spends the time of one’s education (...)

Semantic relationships have an active role in textual study, as they are an essential tool through which the text is constructed, this is done through the sequence of sentences of saying, and these relationships lead to the growth and continuation of the subject of the text, and then linking speech, which in turn achieves textual harmony. “The Samaritan Illuminationism”: the reception of Ishraqi’ philosophy in Samaritan theology of the 18th century.Ф. О Нофал - 2024 - Philosophy Journal 17 (1):35-49.
The article is devoted to comparative analysis of metaphysical studying of a Samaritan theologian and exegete al-Ghazzāl ibn ’Abū Surūr (d. after 1755) and a representative of Shiraz Illuminationism school, philosopher, astronomer and mathematician Ghiyāth al-Dīn Manṣūr al-Dashtakī (d. 1541). Based on a scrupulous analysis of the doctrines by al-Ghazzāl and Ghiyāth al-Dīn, the author comes to the conclusion about their genetic link – supposedly, as a result of perception of Illuminationist systems in the Middle East in 17th–18th centuries. Negative Affect and Counterproductive Workplace Behavior: The Moderating Role of Moral Disengagement and Gender.Al-Karim Samnani, Sabrina Deutsch Salamon & Parbudyal Singh - 2014 - Journal of Business Ethics 119 (2):1-10.
There has been growing scholarly interest in understanding individual-level antecedents of counterproductive workplace behavior (CWB). While researchers have found a positive relationship between individuals’ negative affect and engagement in CWB, to date, our understanding of the factors which may affect this relationship is limited. In this study, we investigate the moderating roles of moral disengagement and gender in this relationship. Consistent with our hypotheses, we found that individuals with a greater tendency to experience negative emotions were more likely to engage (...)
